Jo Malone will launch a new cologne in their library of scents in October of 2007. It is called White Jasmine & Mint and is described as offering an elegant yet eccentric style, meant to evoke "...a sun-drenched morning in an English country garden." This promises to be a welcome contrast in the midst of the fall season......

 The New York Post has an article on possible misdemeanors on the part of perfume reviewers and Chandler Burr in particular. We must be missing something because it seems to us that it is a little low to try to corrupt a perfume reviewer with a perfume bottle or even a few. Some people apparently think that a fragrance flacon is the equivalent of a gold bar. It does have the same color, sometimes, but come on, let's be a little bit more serious....you and I weren't brought up in a slum, right?
It does appear though that some members of the industry were characteristically pushy with Burr, offering him money. It would be interesting to dig out similar stories, which must exist, with movie, restaurant, wine, food, beauty product, spa critics and see why perfumes seem to attract more attention...... If Ambre de Cabochard borrows its name partly from its great leather chypre predecessor Cabochard launched in 1959, olfactorily speaking it is probably its opposite in many respects. Where Cabochard evoked a sparkling dry white wine with still drier peppery accents, Ambre de Cabochard evokes an old-fashioned candy store redolent with realistic effluvia of candied fruits, sweets, and faint whiffs of molasses. Where the classic fragrance unambiguously evoked maturity, adulthood, and sophisticated womanhood, the new one plays out to our childish inclinations and mainstream quest for comfort......

 British Model Katie Price also known as Jordan has unveiled her debut perfume called Stunning. "One spray and you're Stunning!" she promised.
"It's taken 14 months to create, as I wanted something floral and feminine but still strong. It smells beautiful and I think a lot of women will love it just like I do."
It is said to have hints of jasmine and mandarin....

 Jean-Claude Bulins has been making the famous Diptyque candles for nearly 20 years. Journalist Catherine Saint-Jean invites us on a tour of the candle factory located in Argenteuil. Diptyque candles are usually produced in batches of 1250 units, except for some bestsellers like their new Maquis (2500) or some of their classics like Figuier and Baies (each produced in batches of 5000 copies). We learn that due to the high amount of natural oils used in the candles, each new scent needs to have a specific wax formula designed to accommodate the physical properties of the perfume mix and it does not always work, like for Musc. In September of 2007, Galeries Lafayette will inaugurate a new perfume and body care line of their own called Lafayette Beauté. It will include four perfumes available in eaux de toilette concentrations and each of the four scents will be declined in 15 different products like soaps, shower gels, body oils, etc.......

When we last wrote about the upcoming Tom Ford fragrances and about Tom Ford For Men in particular, Tom Ford had decided to pose himself for the ads as the subject of the signature wet yet dressed look by photographer Marilyn Minter. Now the brand announces that they will advertise Tom Ford For Men with a series of porno-chic images of the more hard-core variety going back in this manner to some of Tom Ford's roots as a communicator of provocative advertising images........

Strip is the latest perfume creation by upscale whimsical lingerie brand Agent Provocateur founded in 1994 by Serena Rees and Joe Corres; the latter is the son of Vivienne Westwood another high priestess of sexiness. Agent Provocateur does not hesitate to advertise themselves as “The most erotic lingerie in the world” and it appears futile to try to argue with them after you have glimpsed at their catalog, which short of being X-rated is definitely under the auspices of Venus. They even succeeded in getting banned from the airwaves (see Kylie Minogue’s banned commercial for the brand). So when they decided to use the image of the stripper in this particular case one could anticipate that they would not only talk the talk but walk the walk.......

 Knize Ten by Knize (pronounced "Kniesche") comes preceded by an aura of legend within certain circles as being one of the best leather colognes in the world, whose reputation has endured to this day and very rightly so. In some ways, it is the leather equivalent of Borsari Violetta Di Parma where violet perfumes are concerned both being confidentially, yet deeply appreciated by connoisseurs. Even more so than that, it is judged by some as simply one of the very best men's perfumes; it was in fact voted best masculine fragrance by The Best of The Best in 1989 and in 1999 it was listed (somewhere) amongst the 100 best fragrances to date. Knize Ten has enough character, complexity, yet also relaxed and comforting feel about it to become a signature perfume. That one fragrance that could not but be Knize Ten if you had to choose just one "eau de toilette" to bring with you to a desert island as writer Hans Habe once wrote, because then what would have mattered would not have been to love a beautiful woman but to strengthen one's spirit.......
