James Franco refining his natural coolitude for Coach
Coach will launch a new pillar fragrance for men from September 2017, Coach for Men, which is fronted by actor James Franco, the former Gucci guy, with a funny bone, now the Coach guy, which is said to be an even cooler assignment - at least it has to feel that way...
According to the American leather goods company, Franco is filled with "harmonious dualities" as in the fact that he is rugged-yet-refined. For Stuart Vevers, the artistic director of Coach,
"James is the quintessential-cool Coach guy," said Vevers. "He's handsome, there's a bit of danger and he's thoughtful and challenging, energetic and prolific. He represents so many of the references I've used at Coach -- references of American style that resonate around the world."
Elaborating further on the coolness concept as seen by Coach and the notion of being a "guy", rather than a man (so clichéd!) - as blogger Casey Chong neatly put it "a guy - not a man" - Vevers added,
"It's intentional in as much as it is something that I've always used; I've always talked about the Coach guy -- there's a certain ease about that reference to me. That's a really important part about what Coach is, Coach has that ease to it, that effortlessness that ultimately for me, translates as cool -- that's really a starting point."
For Franco, there are affinities between himself and Vevers in their approach to art and the creative process,
"Creativity is the way I engage with life," Franco said. "It's the way I engage with other people and communicate, and it's really the way I find meaning in life. I enjoyed collaborating with Stuart. There are a lot of references to Coach tradition in his designs, but with an added spin, and that idea is something I have done in my creative work."

The eau de toilette, concentrated at 12%, has fresh, fruity top notes of green nashi pear, bergamot and kumquat. The heart is fresh, aromatic and spicy with cardamom, coriander and geranium. The base is woody, leathery and animalic with Vetiver Haiti LMR, suede and ambergris.
In the US, the scent is set to launch in September 2017. In France, it will make its debut in January 2018.
