Man Caressing a Ceramic Cat {Paris Street Photography}

A Man Caressing a Ceramic Cat © 2017 CHANT WAGNER

Is it instinctive a gesture upon seeing a cat form or is it the wish to test the grain of the cat ceramic with shiny micas? The man's attitude looks attentive enough that it seems to say that the cat made out of earthenware is alive in his imagination...

Is he remembering at that moment a cat companion? Is it wholesale cat worship in action? Any cat will do and in the future it'll be robot cats?

It made me think of Monet's white porcelain cat napping for all eternity in the painter's dining-room and how the artist might have done the same: caress the cold flanks of the porcelain cat, feeling irresistibly compelled to remember and imagine with his fingers.
