Dolce & Gabbana has added two new unisex scents to the Velvet collection called Velvet Amber Sun & Velvet Amber Skin, which are interpretations of the Arab heritage of Sicily. Both blends are meant to celebrate a fusion of Oriental and Italian ingredients to express the East-meets-West historical linkage of the island...
Velvet Amber Sun is said to be a modern take on the amber accord and "a tribute to Oriental perfumery." It is signed by perfumer Frank Voelkl of Firmenich.
Notes include ylang-ylang, an amber accord of vanilla and cistus labdanum, creamy sandalwood, the sweet smoke of Olibanum, woods, patchouli, an oud accord.
"Like a mirage, Palermo appears in the tendrils of burning olibanum. Rising in a golden glow, the fragrant coils turn into sculpted volutes of precious ambery woods and patchouli, burnished by a soulful oud accord."
Velvet Amber Skin is a more floral composition than its counterpart, skewed feminine although both scents are ready to be worn as unisex fragrances. It is signed by perfumer Christophe Raynaud of Firmenich.
Notes include sparkling Italian bergamot, aromatic lavender essence, golden agrumes, fragrant mauve flower, leathery labdanum, a veil of cool iris, sweet opoponax, magnetic myrrh, ambery woods.
