There's been some debating in France as to whether a public space can host religious symbols brought by public figures, such as a Nativity. This is technically a private space, that of a store, which however can be gazed at from a public space and is meant to be seen from a very public perspective.
The law says that it's okay as long as the motivation is festive, artistic or cultural. It's ambiguous enough, the law, that you could decide whether or not, it marks a religious preference. It looks to us like it does mark a preference, ascribable to the predominantly Christian religious tradition of France. And also because it is...Christmas.
