Day 9 of the Advent Street Photography project. Going back in time, here's a closer look at the Christmas tree temporarily planted in front of the cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris, in all of its glory...

Built from 1163 to the mid-14th century, it has outlasted generations of Parisians who like to stroll by or attend its religious services - and will continue to do so, when ashes are back to ashes over the course of centuries.

If only we could see what the statues have seen and will see, what they have smelled and will smell in the future.

They have a great sense of smell and none of the olfactory nuances of Paris escapes their attention...
