Hermès have released a new garden-themed fragrance named Un Jardin sur la Lagune, which aims to recapture the atmosphere of Giardino Eden located in Venice, Italy...
In-house perfumer Christine Nagel, after reading the book by Frederic Eden A Garden in Venice (1903) regarding the secret walled garden he created on the island of Giudecca, felt that it would be a good fit for the Hermès Jardin series.
Now closed to the public, the private garden landscaped by an Englishman in the 19th century in the style of his country, is considered to be part of Italy's national patrimony. It is reportedly today in need of fundings for it to be able to reopen to the public after it was left to go to waste over the years.
Nagel had to imagine its past splendor - and perhaps in so doing help in calling attention to a heirloom garden, now derelict, but rich in history.
The eau de toilette is a floral marine opus judging from its key notes of salicornias, magnolias, pittosporums and Madonna lillies.
SRP: 113€ for 100 ml of EDT.
