Chanel Le Lion is the new opus in Les Exclusifs line of fragrances following up on the launch of 1957 two years ago. The scent is named after Gabrielle Chanel's sun sign, which also served as inspiration for the brand for a collection of high-jewelry baptized "Sous le Signe du Lion"...
This time, the launch calendar is set so that the Middle East will see the perfume rollout first; it started on May the 8th 2020. The rest of the world will be able to discover the eau de parfum from the beginning of 2021.
In-house perfumer Olivier Polge states that he took a stylistic approach to the thematic, thinking more of the stylized objects and the spirit of the house founder than of a lion per se, in the flesh, and in its natural surroundings,
"I was much more interested in the emblematic CHANEL lion than the animal."

Chanel loved to collect sculptures of lions covered in gold leaf with muscular lines well-delineated yet just quietly sitting around to help her anchor her universe of creative symbols in her 31, rue Cambon apartment.
The oriental composition is said to be full of restrained strength one can feel without being overwhelmed by it. There is a sense of force which rises to the surface without spilling over. It is a sophisticated perfume, a trademark of the house.
The eau de parfum has top notes of bergamot and lemon, with cistus ladanifer in the heart, together with an amber accord. The base rests on sandalwood, Madagascar vanilla and patchouli.
