To sum it up, Marc Jacobs wants you to feel loved. Inspired by a personal motto he has had tattoed on his wrist "Perfect", his new perfume for women Perfect promotes self-love, self-esteem and self-acceptance. The word is a reminder to him that as he is, in the here and now, he is just as he should be...
The advertising campaign is going to demonstrate that core belief with a massive ad campaign which mixes models such as Lila Moss or Mei Kawajiri and street/social media people including a casting of 42 anonymous personalities selected for their diverse looks.
"Perfect" is the anti-perfectionism fragrance.
Fashion designer Marc Jacobs explained,
"I tattooed 'perfect' on my wrist to remind me that, when I'm looking at myself and wishing I could be stronger in this way or better at that thing, I can just say no, I'm exactly how I need to be right now," says Marc Jacobs. "My new fragrance, Perfect, was inspired by my belief that we are all perfect as we are, which is expressed in the campaign through each of our amazing cast members."
Simona Cattaneo, President, Coty Luxury Brands, said,
"We are excited to collaborate with Marc Jacobs to bring his unique, creative vision, and inspiring message of self-love and authenticity to life with the launch of Perfect Marc Jacobs. Like the campaign, this new, unconventional fragrance finds beauty in its diversity and inclusivity, which we believe will resonate on a global scale to become a new icon within the portfolio."
The composition is signed by perfumer Domitille Michalon-Bertier of IFF. It is depicted as "...an unconventional yet harmonious clash of fresh floral and calming smooth accords." It's also reportedly bright- and modern-smelling.
The eau de parfum has top notes of juicy rhubarb and bright daffodil seguing into a heart of almond milk, while the base rests on cedarwood and Cashmeran for a soft, "cocooning finish."
The scent will be available from July 30, 2020.
