 Design and perfume lovers can take note; Issey Miyake has introduced a Christmas 2008 limited-edition of the iconic fragrance from the 1990s, L'Eau D'Issey, as part of a special homage paid to his friend, designer Shiro Kuramata who passed away in 1991. Kuramata is the author of the sculpture-bottle meant to symbolize "... the union of two opposite forms: the sphere and the cube." It reportedly took them years of technical research just to be able to finalize the prototype model. Turquoise was the favorite color of Kuramata. The flacon has been issued in 2500 numbered copies. Each flacon contains 20 ml of pure extrait of L'Eau d'Issey, a scent originally created by perfumer Jacques Cavallier in 1991...

Our pick incontestably is The Great Wall of China housing the perfume Intuition. But they also offer a bird cage, a fluttering feather, a gramophone, a turtle, a butterfly, a sailboat, and a tennis racket. This collection is distinct from and more expensive than the perfume compacts sold on the Estee Lauder site. Perfume bottle collectors and Shalimar aficionados can rejoice. As briefly reported previously, Guerlain is issuing for the holiday season a special limited edition of the great classic oriental perfume Shalimar called the "Shalimar édition limitée Noël". The striking transformation is a first and found at the diametrically opposite end of the color spectrum of a previous special edition in transparent Baccarat crystal. The scent, in both Eau de Parfum and Parfum concentrations, is dressed for the occasion in a sumptuous new black outfit that is like an echo of the Black Orloff diamond or again perhaps, the reflection of the moon on peacocks that strut about the gardens of Shalimar at night, according to the press release. Guerlain explain that they want to explore the mysterious side of Shalimar with this new color.......

Guerlain is introducing a limited edition of Shalimar - an "édition limitée Noël " - for the holiday season elegantly dressed up in black called Shalimar Black. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of L'Eau d'Hadrien, Annick Goutal is issuing a limited luxury edition of their famous citrus perfume, together with a series of ancillary products for the bath, including a candle, called "Art du Bain" (Art of the Bath, from 45 to 65 Euros). The lovely you see on the picture is limited to 1000 copies. Each flacon is hand-painted by Caroline Rennequin and numbered from 1 to 1000. They retail for 250 Euros.

 As previously announced, Mane has launched Yu ("rain" in Chinese), one of the most expensive fragrances available on the market today at $5000. It was composed by nose Cecile Krakower of Mane. Only 500 bottles of the scent were produced and are currently available at Bergdorf Goodman. It will also be for sale at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong starting this summer and in select Nordstrom stores in the fall.......

London-based perfumer Lyn Harris of the Miller Harris brand of perfumes has launched a new fragrance called Fleurs de Sel (Lit. "Flowers of Salt", a play on "Fleur de Sel" where the word "fleur" (lit. flower) figuratively refers to the best part of the salt collected from the sea in the "marais salins"). It is available in eau de parfum concentration and, exceptionally, in perfume extract. You can purchase one of the 15 remaining bottles of extract out of the 20 that were made for 20ltd for 500 Pounds, a site specializing in exclusive rare limited editions.......

The scent was created by Christophe Laudamiel, the author of Youth Dew Amber Nude and the Mugler Coffret, amongst others.
