Intimately Beckham for Him by Beckham {Perfume Review & Musings} {Celebrity Perfume} (Men's Cologne}

Intimately Beckham for Him was created in 2006 as part of a duo of fragrances, together with Intimately Beckham for Her. The idea was to capitalize on the celebrity of the couple composed of David and Victoria Beckham.The ad campaign wanted to lead the consummer into believing that he or she would be voyeuristically stealing a moment of intimacy in the life of the famous couple. The ad photo was supposed to be particularly sexy; instead everyone ended up discussing the size-enhancement or lack thereof of Posh Spice's derrière. Ah, the irony of fate.....

Intimately Beckham for Him was created by International Flavors and Fragrances and has notes of bergamot, grapefruit zest, cardamom, violet, nutmeg, star anise, sandalwood, patchouli and amber. It is to my nose a well-done classic men's cologne with fougère and oriental accents and with a tiny little bit of a twist thanks to the violet and star anise notes in the heart. It smells good but it smells also terribly "déjà vu all over again". The mood of olfactory boredom that settles in is hard to fight back, but I have to admit that it could still smell sexy on the right person.

The perfume starts with a fresh and green outburst of bergamot, grapefruit, and cardamom. It is pleasant but trite. The heart develops a slightly more interesting darker nuance with the violet and star anise. The drydown is rather sexy, but all in all dull. The accords tend to lose definition with time and so the scent becomes a bit indistinct. Staying power seems to be below average.

Despite the promise that Intimately Beckham for Him would have some personality, I find that it reeks of compromise. It smells like a middle-market copy of some of the more refined masculine fougères and orientals.

Joining in the lowbrow debate -- there is *no way* that behind is hers. She is a bony little thing, and in the ad barely looks like herself to start, with those big hair extensions.

Have you smelled Intimately Her? Wondering what Eau Posh smells like...

No, I haven't smelled the for-her version. I had heard that possibly the masculine version was more interesting and did not really seek out its feminine counterpart.

No wonder she is anorexic, with all that pressure on her body image!
