New Perfume: Nuit d'Amour by Guerlain

nuitdamour_107.jpg

Nuit d'Amour is the latest creation by Jean Paul Guerlain. The perfume was inspired by the nose's fascination for a painting by Gustav Klimt called "Woman With Hat and Feather Boa". The conjoining of artistic forces also characterize Mitsouko, which was inspired by Turandot, just like Vol de Nuit was by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, and Chamade by Françoise Sagan...

The scent is described as a woody, floral, and musk-y fragrance. Head notes are pink pepper, aldehydes, litchi. Heart notes are May Rose and iris. Base notes are sandalwood and powdery notes.

The parfum extract concentration comes in a limited Baccarat crystal bottle adorned with a necklace of black pearls and a cameo; it retails for $ 2 500. There is also an eau de parfum version which retails for $390 for a 60 ml flacon. It is sold exclusively at the Guerlain flagship store, Neiman Marcus in San Francisco, and Bergdof Goodman in New York.

The Maison Guerlain site has been revamped and now proposes a vitual visit in flash of their flagship store.

I am going to have to get to NY to smell this. Can you imagine? Also, I did not know that about Mitsouko. What a wonderful piece of information; we're wild for Turandot.

Isn't it interesting to learn about a perfumer's creative process like that? It helps one appreciate perfumes even more as well as it will help look at the painting in a different manner
