Kelly Calèche by Hermès {New Perfume}

kellycaleche.jpg

Hermès will launch a new feminine fragrance in July of 2007 called Kelly Calèche in reference both to the Kelly bag (1930) inspired by Grace Kelly and Calèche (1961), one of the house's pillar fragrances. It is their first major feminine launch since 2004 and Eau des Merveilles. The jus was composed by in-house perfumer Jean Claude Ellena.....

The French brand, a saddle house originally, wanted to come up with a perfume that would draw on its heritage. The fragrance, like previously Eau d'Hermès and Doblis by the same house, is described as a floral elather and is inspired by the scent of fine leather.

"Kelly Calèche will have an exclusive preview at the new Hermès boutique, which opens in Wall Street, New York, US in July. It then arrives in Hermès’s boutique network in August and global selective distribution in September. Posters and a print advertising campaign will back the launch.

The line comprises EdTs in 50ml and 100ml sizes, priced at €64 and €90 respectively, a body lotion (€47), a bath and shower gel (€39) and a deodorant (€38)."

Chere Marie-Helene.
What great posts today . Reading TSS gives me some much needed Oomph -onthis rainy, gray Friday.
I adore Caleche - it is the quintessential feminine sparkling fragrance.
i also loved Grace Kelly - and J-C Ellena is a genius parfumeur. So ---
what's not to like or anticipate about this new scent ?
I will seek this one out - Here we go Wall Street !

Chère Madelyn,

Yes, there are days like that when the perfume world seems more alive.

Calèche can be so sexy and elegant with its dry sparkly character.

Anything that is offered by JC Ellena is worth the wait and the appreciation.

I'm not the greatest Ellena fan (yet?) but that's probably because I haven't given a fair try to his fragrances... This one, despite its Crazy Horse Saloon girl name and its pink juice, sounds very, very tempting. Leather. When was the last time a major house launched a leather scent for women? I do wish they'd re-edit Doblis, but from my in-house contacts, it seems like a no-go...

LOL at "...its Crazy Horse Saloon girl name..." Very naughty and suggestive (of an arcane Kama Sutra position among other things), LOL and I'm sure, not what Hermès primarily want people to have in mind.

Did they explain to you why they are not considering re-issuing Doblis?

Re: Doblis... Too niche, too obscure, too expensive for the tiny market it would have.

Fourth time I try to post this, the spam blocker won't let me! Re: Doblis, it's considered too niche and too limited in appeal, and thus too expensive to re-edit.

Yikes.....I know the system is not perfect. I put in the number first and then I post. If I forget or take too long then I need to refresh the page. A new number will appear and then need to post without delay. I don't know if it could be made easier to use. Will inquire.
