 In August of 2007, Fresh will introduce a new fragrance called Mangosteen Eau de Parfum to mark its 16th anniversary. It will be accompanied by ancillary body-care products. Mangosteen is a delicious fruit from Southeast Asia offering a subtle aroma and taste that seems hard to capture in perfumery. Hilary Duff's With Love, which includes this note, did not succeed in my opinion in recreating its characteristic facets......

Today, I was planning to propose a review of Serge Lutens Encens et Lavande followed the next day by the latest Sonia Rykiel Belle en Rykiel as they both offer a central incense and lavender accord. It amused me to no end to read that the perfumer for Belle En Rykiel had told his customer that this accord had never been done before. We can also have a pious thought for Guerlain Jicky and see it as an illustrious predecessor of that main never-done-before accord. I will however have to postpone this project for the next coming days, hopefully starting tomorrow. Bond No9 has partnered up with specialty-store Saks to create an exclusive duo of fragrances called Saks Fifth Avenue For Her and Saks Fifth Avenue For Him to debut on September 1 2007. Encens et Lavande (Incense and Lavender) was introduced in 1996 in the collection "Les Eaux Anciennes" (Ancient Eaus) part of the exclusive, non-export line of perfumes by - rather, one should say in a standard fashion where the visionary from Marrakech is concerned, dreamt by - Serge Lutens. Like most of the fragrances from Palais Royal-Shiseido it was created in collaboration with perfumer Christopher Sheldrake. The official description for the scent is terse, listing four main notes: incense, lavender, vegetal amber, and clary sage. This initial description suits to some extent the austere character of a scent whose only concession to worldly pleasures is to smell elegant.......

Photo of the Café de Flore in Saint-Germain-Des-Prés by Alex Segre Belle en Rykiel (Beautiful In Rykiel) by fashion brand Sonia Rykiel was introduced in 2006, becoming more widely distributed now in the spring of 2007. The perfume was created by nose Jean-Pierre Béthouart of Firmenich (Givenchy Ange ou Démon, with Olivier Cresp, Smiley, Caron Parfum Sacré, Boucheron...) and the flacon designed by Thierry de Baschmakoff. The original idea for the fragrance was proposed by Nathalie Rykiel, the daughter of former fashion designer Sonia Rykiel, now owner of the brand, who wanted to create a scent inspired by the well-known archetypal passage in the fairy tale Snow White in which the queen asks her magical mirror, who the fairest of them all is? Every little girl's dream is to be that crowning beauty, is the assumption for the fragrance. The polished reflecting surfaces of the flacon in this manner are designed after the idea of a mirror while suggesting with its lines the signature soft pillowy textures of the Sonia Rykiel collections. Nathalie Rykiel also added that the new perfume is "very Saint-Germain-Des-Prés."......

 Bryant Park by Bond No 9 now has a newly designed bottle following, apparently, issues over copyright infringement that would have been brought up by the Italian fashion brand Pucci. Their trademark bold concentric ovals are out, but the colors remain similar. For a pic of the old bottle you can go here.

As previously reported and now according to a new press release, the upcoming perfume by Prince, 3121, will be bottled in this very purple perfume flacon meant to recall a facetted diamond. It will also be marketed by relying heavily on auspicious numerological references. Larry Couey, the president of Revelations, a Philadelphia-based fragrance company that created the fragrance said that they had worked closely with Prince, "We have been working intimately with Prince on this innovative project and are thrilled to share the stage with a true creative genius."The jus is described as a white floral.......
