British milliner Stephen Jones has announced that he is working on the creation of a debut fragrance with Rei Kawabuko of Comme des Garçons. The launch is anticipated to take place in July of 2008 and Jones is already planning to make a hat inspired by the shape of the bottle.........
Jones already sells his hats in the Comme des Garçons boutiques.
"Fragrance and hats are ephemeral and romantic," Jones explains. "It's the same mentality - almost more so than hats and fashion. I'm a tiny little company and I needed somebody who would be into what I'm doing. I did all the sketches and Rei approved them and said, 'Left a bit, right a bit.'" Jones has been friends with Kawakubo since 2005 when he installed an exhibition at the designer's concept store, Dover Street Market. He confided to The Daily that the perfume will be "futuristic but rococo"
He is not exactly the first milliner to launch a perfume as stated by Vogue.uk. Let us not forget the important precedent of L'Ombre Rose by Jean-Claude Brosseau.
