British perfumer Mark Buxton has launched a collection of 7 fragrances under his own independent label called Metamorphoses of Colours and Moods. The idea behind it is to enable you to find the perfume best-suited to your personality or mood by inviting you to look at a color chart and clicking on the square that is most attractive to you.

The seven perfumes that you can discover are: Wood & Absinth, Black Angel, Hot Leather, English Breakfast, Around Midnight, Sounds & Visions, Nameless...
Wood and Absinth is based on wormwood and vetiver, a potentially eruptive relationship that Buxton wanted to tame. Top notes are: citrus, orange, clary sage, anise; heart notes are: jasmine, rosewood; base notes are: wood and vetiver.

Black Angel is inspired by the concept of an English man finding himself in New York. Top notes are: citrus, bergamot, orange, mandarin, rosemary, ginger, cardamom, coriander; heart notes are: nutmeg, jasmine, lily of the valley, orris; base notes are: styrax, guaiac, patchouli.

Hot Leather gets jollier and represents an evening at the Moulin Rouge. Top notes are: pepper, geranium, camomile; heart note is: jasmine; base notes are: styrax, patchouli, cistus, cedarwood.

English Breakfast depicts another moment of cultural contrast: the experience of an English man eating a sushi/sashimi breakfast in Japan, on his way to Kyoto. Top notes are: bergamot, orange, pepper, ginger, coriander, geranium, galbanum; heart notes are: calendula, jasmine, rosewood, gardenia; base notes are: patchouli, vetiver, labdanum, fir, cedarwood, benzoin.

Around Midnight, and we are back in Paris, in a jazz club this time. Top notes: pepper, geranium, camomile; heart note is: jasmine; base notes: styrax, patchouli, cistus, cedarwood.

Sounds and Visions sounds very joyous. It is about dancing in a cedar forest on a warm and sunny day. Top notes: bergamot, mandarin, pepper, ginger, cardamom; heart notes: nutmeg, rose, jasmine, rosewood.

Nameless is also inspired by a place, a terrace overlooking the lake of Come, the vision of boats sailing in and out, "especially Riva's; wood and water". Top notes: mandarin, cardamom, orange flower, lavender; heart notes: cinnamon, coffee, clove, jasmine; base notes: amber, cistus, wood, guaiac, patchouli, cedarwood, benzoin.

According to his biography,

Mark Buxton is "One of the sharpest "noses" ever. Author of fragrances for Givenchy, Versace, Paco Rabanne, Burberry, Salvador Dali, Cartier, Chopard, Ferre. One of the brilliant pages of his perfumer career concerns his companionship of many years with Comme des Garcons. Mark's personal testament has always been "Simplicity is the ultimate degree of luxury". This credo is incarnated in his works as well as in his life. Mark has various interests apart from perfumery: English painting, antiques and gastronomy."
