Supermodel Heidi Klum is preparing to launch her debut fragrance under the aegis of Coty in September 2011. It is called Shine. The announcement could not be more timely as she particularly shined and glowed on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards in an outfit to be remembered signed by Marc Jacobs. The association of Klum with the beauty industry goes way back when as she recounts how her father who used to work for the makers of 4711 Eau de Cologne would bring back beauty samples regularly,
“My father worked as the marketing director for 4711, a cosmetics company in Germany, for 20 years,” Klum said. “He would always bring home testers of lipsticks, eye shadows and perfumes....
I absolutely loved it — I started wearing makeup and experimenting with beauty products way too early. In German schools, it is mandatory for students to find a three-week internship when they turn 13 to get work experience. I worked at 4711, where I had to do everything from filling perfume into bottles, sitting at the conveyor belt for quality inspections to marketing to the labs where the vats of creams [were] being developed. It’s funny how it’s all come back around again!”
Coty say that they are thrilled to be partnering up further with Heidi Klum who is already the face of Coty-owned Astor Cosmetics brand. They see in her a multi-faceted feminine personality, a business woman and a mother, with a pluralistic, international reach that will help promote the company's name in new segments of the population.
"We are excited to work with Heidi and capture her energy and femininity in her new signature fragrance," declared Bernd Beetz, Chief Executive Officer, Coty Inc. "Heidi is an international powerhouse and role model and her fragrance will bring her even closer to her adoring fans around the world. Heidi's natural beauty radiates from the inside out and is the perfect addition to the Coty family."
No deets are offered on the new fragrance's personality as of yet, but Klum has already been hard at work smelling the mods,
"I am thrilled to be partnering with Coty on my new fragrance," said Heidi Klum. "Working for a long time on developing a signature scent and watching it finally come to life is so exciting. I never thought my nose would recover from sniffing so many scent combinations but it is all worth it. I want my fragrance to be truly special and head-turning so that people ask the woman who's wearing it 'What are you wearing? You smell delicious!'."
