The full ad for the new campaign for Miss Dior Chérie featuring Natalie Portman has been unveiled. Well, let me rephrase that. A few more inches of it have been offered to appreciative public viewing since last time. In it, the actress strikes more clearly a full-monthy nude pose (we are invited to imagine that at least), one which has been popular lately in Guerlain fragrance adverts, a brand which is also part of the LVMH luxury group incidentally....
We saw model Natalia Vodianova barely covering her breasts next to a bottle of Shalimar and then French actress Nora Arzeneder half-naked, looking both coy and sensual next to a flacon of Idylle Eau de Toilette.
One could point to the trend as betraying a belief in the efficaciousness of soft-porn aesthetics, but on the other hand, it's a standard motif of fragrance advertising to underline the fact that you only need perfume to feel seductively dressed, or alternatively that you would feel naked without it.
We should note also, that as underlined before, the new advert for Miss Dior Chérie will probably appeal to a broader women demographic taking the perfume from being a symbol of bubbly, pastel-colored girlhood to going more in the direction of sultry womanhood (we know, more stereotypes coming your way, but you cannot waste much time when attempting to make an impact via a billboard ad.)
