P. Frapin & Cie. 1697 (2011) {New Perfume - Limited Edition}

frapin_perfume_1697.jpgP. Frapin & Cie will launch a new limited-edition unisex perfume from mid-February 2011 titled 1697. The name of the fragrance refers to the year in which the Frapin family became members of the French nobility thanks to a warrant issued by Louis XIV. The tag line is "The most sought after of the Frapin fragrances;" the special edition is numbered from 1 to 1697...

The "fruity oriental" is signed by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour who has composed numerous perfumes in particular for such niche houses as L'Artisan Parfumeur and Penhaligon's.

1697 evokes the magnificence of the reign of the Sun King and in particular the pleasures of court life at Versailles. Duchaufour was reportedly entrusted with capturing the "moving sensuality" of the era.

The "absolu de parfum" opens on top notes of cabreuva, davana, Jamaican rum, cistus, pink peppercorn. The heart showcases sambac jasmine, hawthorne, ylang ylang, clove, cinnamon from Ceylon, dry fruits, rose essence. The base notes mingle ambre gris, tonka bean, patchouli, cedar wood, cistus, white musks, vanilla.

The perfume will be available at boutique Jovoy Paris, 29, rue Danielle Casanova, 75001 Paris.
