In the perfumer's quest to add novel accords to the natural world, fashion and perfume label founded by Rei Kawabuko, Comme des Garçons, launched a new series of three unisex fragrances called Blue Encens, Blue Cedrat and Blue Santal destined to express in three times "a radical contradiction" namely that of,
"A clash of luxurious warmth and searing coolness. Fresh, non-fresh. Cool yet warm. Blue takes over to reveal the contradictory coolness of three emblematic warm notes: incense, cedarwood, sandalwood."...
While the color blue is prominently displayed in the visual presentation of the fragrances, the descriptions remain more ambiguous as to how literally blue the perfumes are supposed to smell.
"The result is a cool blue invasion, an unexpected blend of wood, spice and incense artfully combined to reveal refreshingly warm layers"
What we understand is that blue is the color of a cool-warm paradox.
