Conde Nast, the proprietor of Vogue Magazine, who is interested in expanding this prestigious brand-name into perfume, toiletries, and cosmetics was forced to back down after a ruling decided against its entitlement to exclusive rights to the name "Vogue" appearing on a perfume bottle. United Toiletries & Cosmetics have been producing a perfume called Vogue since 1982 and their rights have been recognized.
