Dzintars: Long Lost Soviet Scents {The 5th Sense in the News}

There is an article in Подробности asking the question: After the fall of the USSR, where have all the Latvian Dzintars perfumes that scented the whole Union, perfuming our grandmothers and mothers gone?.......

As it turns out the Baltic perfume brand not only did not shut down, but have been able to withstand competition and are reportedly a leader in the Baltic markets. They however experience difficulties exporting to the ex-countries of the Soviet Union, Ukraine in particular, due to customs barriers.

The best-sellers of the brand continue to be the classics: Рижская сирень (Lilac from Riga, shown on the right), Кристина (Christina), and masculine colognes No. 7 and No. 12.

  2. Wow, thanks for this post! What a blast form the past, I remeber my mom using those, indeed, very popular perfumes, when I was growing up in the former USSR:)
