Rumor, Rumor: Audrey Tautou as Next Chanel No.5 Icon {Fragrance News} {Celebrity Perfume}

We all know that Nicole Kidman is expecting...or at least now you know. The impact of this piece of news on perfume history has just been felt. Women's Wear Daily reported on Wednesday April 16 that French actress Audrey Tautou is rumored to be the next spokesmodel for Chanel No. 5 fragrance.....

It is said that the actress will star in a commercial directed by quirky Jean-Pierre Jeunet, author of Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain but also of The City of Lost Children, Delicatessen, and A Very Long Engagement.

After hiring Keira Knightly for Coco Mademoiselle, it seems that Chanel is interested in offering a younger, less classical image for Chanel No. 5.

WWD added that "Chanel officials could not be reached for comment Tuesday."

So Nicole is pregnant and therefore cannot be a spokesperson for Chanel? Why?

Actually, they did not say that, I added that bit.

I am just assuming that she is not interested in taking on more work while expecting, especially at her age.

Do I smell a feminist flavor in your comment? It might also be that Chanel is not used to employing pregnant models:)

I have no idea. It is just playful speculation on my part.

As unfortunate as this is for Nicole, I think Mme. Tautou will be a fabulous spokesperson, epitomizing that high fashion yet youthful French-chic that Chanel embodies.
