Chanel Beige in Les Exclusifs Collection: "A Breath of Beige" (2008) {New Fragrance}

Beige-Chanel-Exclusif-2-copy.jpg
In October 2008, the house of Chanel will make a new addition to their upscale library of perfumes known as Les Exclusifs with a composition named Beige.

The perfume pays homage to Coco Chanel's predilection and affinity for a color she felt was quintessentially natural and which she turned into a symbol of elegance. She said herself, almost with a religious implication "I take refuge in beige because it's natural,"...
The composition, by in-house perfumer Jacques Polge, promises to be quite the sophisticated abstract contemplation and interpretation of the color beige. Like Eskimos, who possess an unparalleled number of terms to designate the different nuances of white in their environment, Chanel envisions here a litany of beiges: "Sandy beige, honey beige, clay beige, whitish beige..."

The apparent simplicity and neutrality of this shade, to the casual observer, holds thus in fact many subtle and interesting nuances and its understated character and elusiveness promises to us mystery, a key concept in traditional French perfumery and one that Polge is personally attached to.

The master perfumer has also expressly worked to let a discreet form of sensuality unfold, suggested by the very color beige, a type of sensuality we are told, that gains momentum gradually and slowly before revealing itself with full intensity. This "sensual outburst" was olfactorily interpreted by Polge by calling upon the notes of hawthorn, freesia, frangipani, and "shimmering honey"...

"In other words, a breath of beige".

Les Exclusifs BEIGE will be available exclusively Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City in October 2008.

A 200 ml bottle is priced at $190.
