Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise (2009) {New Perfume}

Jo Malone will offer a new pairing of scents with Vanilla & Anise in their library of fragrances that I like to compare to a naturalist's butterfly collection. It is scheduled for a September 2009 release. The perfume is described as a floral vanilla and "designed to evoke the moment that vanilla orchids bloom at day-break in Madagascar,...it explores different aspects of vanilla, blending it with white flowers and spices."...

The fragrance seems richly composed with notes of Sicilian bergamot, Tunisian neroli, wild fennel flower and star anise. The heart rests on oleander, tuberose, frangipani and purple vanilla orchid; the base is of Madagascar clove, white amber, vetiver bourbon, vanilla bourbon absolute and tonka bean.

It reminds one of course of the recent floral vanilla composition by Jean-Claude Ellena at Hermès. Let's see how Jo Malone does it. Hope they will release the name of their perfumer for this scent.

Priced £32/€42 for 30ml and £64/€80 for 100ml.

  1. I remember reading an article in which Jo Malone said that though many customers asked for a vanilla fragrance she would never do one, because she personally didn't like vanilla. Since then ofcourse she sold her business to Estee Lauder and EL would be crazy to not do something with such a popular note.
    I'm very curious!
