Fashion Night's Out Begets Two New Scents: Caravan NYC by Demeter and Staghorn Sumac by DS & Durga (2011) {New Fragrances - Limited Editions}

Fashion_Nights_Out_perfume.jpgAs Fashion Night's Out is turning into more and more of an institution since 2009, brands other than those that are purely about the sartorial side of fashion are getting excited to join in the fiesta...

This year, at least two perfume labels felt it was a propos to contribute limited-edition scents to mark the occasion. And if a brand like BCBG Max Azria chose the date to introduce a new launch, Demeter and DS & Durga wanted something more unique.  Fortunately for collectors, their perfumes remain available throughout the 2011 fall-winter season opened by FNO.

Caravan NYC by Demeter is inspired by Demeter CEO Mark Crames' childhood memories of time spent with his dad visiting the garment center in New York City.

"This unique, sparkling scent with peach skin, strawberry leaf, caramelized sugar and ylang ylang captures the bright optimism and creativity that is the essential character of the NYC Midtown Garment center, and a very personal tribute to my father."

"Demeter Fragrances has partnered with Caravan Stylist Studio to launch their newest limited edition fragrance - Caravan for Fashion’s Night Out. 50% of proceeds from sales of the fragrance will be donated to charities including the NYC AIDS Fund for Fashion's Night Out and Made in Midtown."

Prices: $20 and $10.

Staghorn Sumac by DS & Durga is inspired by a lyrical vision of the Great Plains. The flacon is a collaborative project with Joya F vs S Porcelain NYC, which explains the recherché slip cast porcelain plaque on its front. Only 100 copies were issued.

"Windswept grasslands of the Great Plains. The inner air of a Dakota teppee. Accords of bison grass, wild lily and staghorn sumac sleathed in prairie earth and air."

Price: $120 for 37 ml of eau de parfum.
