Rihanna Rebelle (2011) {New Fragrance} {Celebrity Perfume}

Rihanna_Rebelle_ok.jpgPop singer Rihanna will launch a second signature perfume which rifts on Reb'l Fleur called Rebelle. It should be in stores by December 15, 2011, with earlier media appearances of the star as early as October. The big rollout will be in the spring of 2012. Rihanna said,

"My new fragrance is about taking control but still being a lady. There's a feminine, romantic element to the fragrance - but there's also a defiant quality in it, "I love its duality"..

"Rihanna is a phenomenon. More than simply a tremendously popular performer - and a beautiful young woman - she is quickly reaching the pinnacle of today's popular music scene.  Her remarkable talent and bold personal style have made her an icon yet it is the way she balances strength and femininity that keeps her audience so intrigued. 

Rebelle, said to be a very sensual gourmand chypre fit for Valentine's Day when it will be made more widely available, was composed, like Reb'l Fleur, by perfumers Caroline Sabas and Marypierre Julien.

The composition opens on top notes of luscious strawberries, ripe purple plums, ginger. The heart evokes "tropical splendor" paying homage to Rihanna's native country, Barbados, with notes of cacao absolute, vanilla orchid and heliotrope. The base notes are compared to "a reggae hook in a Rihanna tune" with notes of rich patchouli, rare coffee beans, creamy musk and aphrodisiac amber.

The bottle mimicks an upside-down stiletto heel, while the color red is a reference to Rihanna's signature hair color.

Anthony Mandler directed the ad campaign. In the past, he's worked with the singer on videos like "Unfaithful" and "Man Down."
