Vera Wang will introduce a new women's perfume from August 2012 called Lovestruck Floral Rush. It is not as is usual a flanker conceived of as a sequel to a scent, namely Lovestruck, launched in 2011 but in fact "a prequel to the Lovestruck love story" interpreted by actress Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl. The fragrance is signed by perfumer Pascal Gaurin of IFF.

"Floral Rush is fueled by enchantment and the possibility of love at first sight. The rush of adrenaline when curiosity strikes. With a glance from a stranger, there is unlimited potential of where it will all lead."...

The perfume is described as a sparkling floral bouquet. The eau de parfum is said to open on top notes resting on a bubbly Champagne accord, pink peppercorn and apricot blossom. It then segues into a heart of pink passion flower, marigold and white freesia. The dry down reveals base notes of cashmere woods, sheer musk and white amber.

The ad campaign continues to feature the Romeo-and-Juliet trope of the sighing lovers on a balcony; the fact that the ad last year was set on a red fire escape is a telling sign of our times where amorous passion is more often than not associated with a quick Exit sign. And yes, as soon as we said that we received this link to a commercial for Only The Brave Tattoo Diesel where a guy makes a quick escape through... the fire escape. Fire = Love, Escape = looking out for number 1.

In the prequel, the white, more romantic balcony/fire escape unites the lovers full of promise.

The ad campaign was shot by director and photographer Carter Smith in SoHo, New York City on November 6, 2010. Leighton Meester's hair was done by Billie Lee Switzer and makeup is by Chris Colbeck.

Prices: 1.0 fl oz/ 30 ml for $48, 1.7 fl oz/50 ml for $68, 3.4 fl oz /100 ml for $78.
