Lady Gaga Fame Might be yet Another Big-Shouldered Hydrocarbure Drama, a Futuristic One this Time {Perfume Images & Ads}

What do the new-generation 2012 Dallas TV series and Fame by Lady Gaga have in common? A strange, renewed fascination for a gooey, sleek, black substance clearly labeled "oil" in the first instance and hinted at merely as an object of obsession, sexual or otherwise in the clip released to promote the concept "Fame" as in the fragrance by Coty, Inc and Haus Laboratories.

Looking at it this way, you could see the angst expressed in the Alien influenced video as a futuristic vision of a world in which the black, precious hydrocarbure has exponentially shrunk, opening the way to strange rituals, religions and even madness...

Since Gaga is nothing if not one who has her ear on the ground of the Zeitgeist, you could think that the singer has been having visions about the world of tomorrow and that glossy black is not just a fashion statement but the exact shade of doom.

You can also keep wondering why divine Gaga is reclining with little men in thongs crawling all over her immense body.

Gaga teases.

Fame is clearly meant to feel arcane and sulfurous, tears of poisonous Belladonna oblige

As always, we can only hope that some of the drama will spill over into the perfume composition itself instead of taking sole refuge in the visuals preening the fragrance.

"Bound to surpass all norms and standards in the fragrance industry with its innovative technology, LADY GAGA FAME is the first ever black Eau de Parfum that sprays clear and becomes invisible once airborne. The black-to-clear fragrance is a fantastic innovation of patent pending fluid technology, exclusively launched with LADY GAGA FAME. Gaga collaborated with fashion industry legends in the creation of LADY GAGA FAME: the bottle was designed in collaboration with Nick Knight, and the ad campaign was directed and photographed by Steven Klein.

The scent is built around three main accords: dark, sensual and light. The dark accord was inspired by Belladonna, the deadly nightshade possessed by haunted beauties since the 18th century. From this darkness, the fragrance evolves to a sensual accord of opulence, a fusion of dripping honey, saffron and apricot nectar. And lastly, the light accord whispers magnificence. The rich floral layer of crushed Tiger Orchid & Jasmine Sambac embodies timeless beauty. The accords work together to create a fragrance of floral and fruity elements, with the star ingredient inspired by Belladonna leveling out the whole fragrance and giving LADY GAGA FAME its signature as a scent." -- Via press release

  1. oh boy! I can't wait to try this! I am a Gaga fan but usually I am a little more highbrow with my scents. This however sounds too intriguing - I love all the notes. Thanks for the review.
