Visual artist Andrea Maack has added a new opus to her line of niche fragrances established in 2010. The Reykjavík, Iceland-based installation artist's latest idea is to translate the smell of coal as it is perceived in the ambiance of an artist's studio, wafting up from drawings as well, all of this interpreted in a perfume titled Coal...

The eau de parfum was composed by perfumer Richard Ibanez of Robertet

"Andrea Maack’s Coal fragrance is based on one of her original drawings made with black coal. Composed with dark and warm raw materials and fresh and vibrating ones, this eau de parfum shows the warm/cold contrast that black coal can have."

The perfume opens on top notes of sichuan pepper, pink pepper, juniper berry going into middle notes of cedar wood, papyrus, coal, and resting on base notes of sandalwood, patchouli and leather.
