Van Cleef & Arpels have tackled the mythical beast of perfumery, the rose. The new addition to the Collection Extraordinaire is called Rose Velours (No. 17785QY). It was composed by nose Antoine Maisondieu of Givaudan...

He selected a rose absolute which he associated with an iris absolute in the heart of the fragrance. This is for the luxury aspect of the project.

The creative vision here was to suggest the variegated nuances exuded by a rose during a cycle of 12 hours.

Maisondieu said, "Rose for me is the embodiment of absolute femininity; it is the ultimate luxury. I've constructed this fragrance like an imaginary travel taking place in several stages revealing its increasingly complex fragrance from dawn to sunset. I wanted the perfume to be initiatory, letting itself be unveiled little by little on the skin and becoming richer overtime." (Our translation)

The eau de parfum opens on top notes of Italian bergamot and violet leaves followed by rose absolute accented with honey and paired with a powdery orris absolute. The sillage is both soft and long-lasting thanks to benzoin from Laos, cedar wood and Ambroxan.

Price is 120€ for 75 ml.

The perfume launches exclusively from October 1, 2013 in France at Printemps Haussmann. The exclusive will last 6 months.
