You almost end up needing to rub your eyes in disbelief 4 years after spotting the start of a cultural shift when faced with the surf of oud/oudh/agarwood perfumes coming crashing down on the market.

The latest entry is by very visible brand Viktor & Rolf who have tweaked their bestselling fragrance Flowerbomb with Flowerbomb Rose Explosion...

"Viktor & Rolf offers a new, sensual version of its iconic fragrance with Flowerbomb Rose Explosion eau de parfum.  Flowerbomb Rose Explosion combines the voluptuous richness of rose with the intensity of oud and saffron."

The modern classic has been revisited as an oriental to correspond to the codes of currently very popular arabesque perfumery. The rose-oud-saffron accord is nothing if not a standard in the Middle East. To reinforce the connection visually, the advert for the fragrance features gold roses while the bottle has become golden, a favorite sign of richness in Arabic countries which value opulence although the Qoran is against the use of gold vessel.

The eau de parfum is said to include notes of mandarin, bergamot, rose, jasmine, amber, vanilla and patchouli.

It is a limited 100 ml edition priced at 200€/£130.
