Succeeding to the trend of minimalism and entering an altogether entirely different territory we now have the trend of nihilism in perfumery. Actually, Dadadandy prefers to use the term "surrealism" to describe their new fragrance Choix (Choice) which is composed of an alcohol base without any superfluous scent added to it. This conceptual fragrance is part of an exhibition at Selfridges called Surrealism & The Shop in association with Surreal Things at The Victoria & Albert Museum, London.....

Papier D'Arménie (Armenian Paper) the label producing the famous Papier D'Arménie used as a deodorizer in France since 1885 has issued a candle based on the exquisite scent which includes the distinctive note of benzoin from Laos. Each year more than 2 millions of these little booklets continue to be sold. Perfumer Francis Kurkdjian was asked to re-create the scent in a candle form. He has also recently created a variation on the traditional scent for a Limited Edition of Papier D'Arménie.

Issey Miyake has launched a new seasonal limited edition of its classic fragrance L'Eau D'Issey originally created in 1991/1992 by Jacques Cavallier. It helped define a new generation of transparent aquatic fragrances which was a hallmark of the 1990s. This limited edition is called Une Goutte Sur Un Pétal (A Drop On A Petal) and was created by perfumer Alberto Morillas, a friend of Jacques Cavallier, working with the concept of using "guest notes" (to stress the integrity of the original itself)....

As previously reported, Angels of Florence is a perfume that was released by the historical Italian perfume brand Santa Maria Novella in the fall of 2006 to help raise funds for the restoration of the 18 000 remaining books that are still left damaged by the flood of 1966 in Florence. The Santa Maria Novella line of fragrances I feel a particular tenderness for as their perfumes are of the good artisanal sort of quality with a definite old-world and even at times quaint charm.....

A new perfume "made by women for women" has been introduced by the label Entre Filles (Between Us Girls). It is called Entre Filles Saison 1 (Between Us Girls Season 1). It is described as an eau de toilette bursting with citrus and meant for girls who are "shopaholic, mischievous and determined". Notes include lemon, bergamot, mandarin, blackcurrant, apple blossom. Heart notes are freesia and pink peony. Base notes are Tonka bean, musk, and blue cedar.....

Burberry is launching summer versions of Burberry for women and for men. Burberry Summer for women has notes of mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit, green apple, water lily, freesia, rose, white musk, vanilla, green oakmoss, and precious woods. Burberry Summer for men includes notes of pineapple, citrus, frosted mint, thyme, geranium, cedarwood, white musk, Tonka bean. These perfumes will be available from March-April 2007. Vivienne Westwood is releasing a new perfume called Boudoir Sin Garden (Jardin du Péché). The perfume was composed by nose Marie Salamagne in collaboration with Vivienne Westwood.....

Versace is launching a new eponymous fragrance simply called Versace. It is described as a classic floral fragrance. Donatella Versace said “My starting point was to create a classic perfume, an important and timeless scent, to be worn at any time of the day, providing that extra dash of glamour that puts the finishing touch to every outfit,” "It has top notes of guava, black current, purple wisteria and white lilacs, a heart of Angel Wing jasmine, lotus flowers and azaleas, and a drydown of cedar, Kasmir wood, musk and vetiver. In the U.S., two sizes of eau de parfum sprays will be offered at launch: a 1.7-oz. bottle for $70 and a 3.4-oz. version for $90."

As previously reported, the upcoming perfume launch by Calvin Klein has adopted the rapid text messaging style of the new digital generation to define its image and is called CK in2u. According to the press release, "ck one is about connecting with the group, ck be is about connecting with yourself, and ck IN2U is all about connecting with another person." Even before the perfumes have been made available to the public (but you will read a review of them first here), the advertising campaign around the duo of fragrances for her and for him is generating quite a stir in the media and in particular in the blogosphere where acerbic remarks seem to resound like shouts emanating from angry young people, precisely the ones targeted by the advertisers, i.e., the millenials or people born between 1982 and 1995......

Guerlain is re-issuing Chamade pour Homme which was created by Jean Paul Guerlain in 1999 and launched then as a limited edition. This time it will be part of the prestige collection called "Les Parisiennes". The scent is described as a woody chypre and shares the notes of black pepper, violet, leather, and vetiver with the classic feminine Chamade. Top notes are bergamot and black pepper. Heart notes are violet, hyacinth, green note, nutmeg. Base notes are precious woods, vetiver, and leather. Perfume World describes it with the terms Green Violet Aldehydic Chypre Iris Spicy Woody. The latest release by Fragonard, Billet Doux, is now available at Hampton Court. It is a limited edition and a re-issue of a 1950s fragrance from their catalogue. You can read our review of Billet Doux here. It retails for $65 for a 1.7 oz flacon. The Voluspa Victoria Collection, which includes Cult of Helios, Green Datura, Tuberosa Agave, and Vanity, is available. The roll-on perfumes retail for $26.
Roget & Gallet is launching a new fragrance line called Cédrat (Citron). "The fresh fragrant water comes in 200ml and 500ml splash formats, priced €41 and €80 respectively, and 100ml and 200ml sprays priced at €32 and €45. [...]The fragrance was formulated by Ma ne." Roger & Gallet will also open its first store in Paris by the end of 2007. They intend to expand globally. Their prices will subsequently be increased by 10%. Source: Cosmetic News
