Halloween Blends, The Haunted House, & Pumpkin Patch 2007 by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab {New Perfumes}

Our thoughts have been turning towards the celebration of Halloween and of course those perfumes that might evoke best the shadows and lights, smells and tastes on that particular night. Meanwhile we happened on three new limited edition collections of scents issued by Black Pheonix Alchemy Lab, which warrant a post on their own. The creepy, lugubrious collections are called Halloween Blends, Halloween Blends: The Haunted House, and Halloween Blends: Pumpkin Patch 2007.

The names and notes sound terribly interesting. Since there are 22 perfumes in all, it is best to refer you to the page on which they can be purchased. We already singled out Bonfire Night with notes of Beer, woodsmoke, tar, and treacle; The Death of Autumn with notes of Dark amber, dead leaves, khus, saffron, bitter clove, chrysanthemum, camellia, galangal, and a drop of oud. The Atrocious Attic gives us the chill just reading the description,......

"A shadowy shrine filled with forgotten toys, broken dolls. The altar: a collapsing trunk distended by a rotted wedding gown. The air of the room is dusty, laced with the scent of a child's perfume and the remnants of a dried, crumbling bridal bouquet: tea rose, violet, white sandalwood, French lavender, and Calla lily."

The Chilling Cellar features a blood accord: "Wine just turning to vinegar, crumbling mortar, red clay, and the coppery tang of old blood."

If you buy the whole Pumpkin Patch collection named Pumpkin Plunder, then you receive a bonus scent called A Murder of Crows with notes of Sleek iris and verbena, grey amber, benzoin, davana, and glossy herbs. A research study has shown that men are aroused - yes you read this right - by the scent of pumpkin...and licorice. This is why they call you "My little pumpkin", no doubt.....Halloween must be the sexiest season of the year for men.

These creations sound positively ghastly, in a good way of course and for the purpose of unleashing some elemental forces on the eve of All Saints' Day.

From the BPAL copy,

"All of our Halloween seasonal blends, including the Haunted House scents and the Pumpkins, are $17.50 each. The Haunted House can be purchased in a full set for $120, and the Pumpkin Patch can be purchased in a full set for $86. Purchase of a Pumpkin Plunder set (the complete collection of Pumpkins) comes with an imp's ear of Murder of Crows."
