After the initial joint release of Lady Vengeance and Miss Charming in 2006, the niche perfume brand Juliette Has A Gun is launching a new feminine fragrance called Citizen Queen offering yet another storied cinematic reference with a play on words and a nod to Orson Welles' Citizen Kane....

The new jus, set to debut in May of 2008, is described as an "aldehydic chypre with animalistic notes" which seems to indicate an interest in reviving all the perfumery notes that made women feel womanly in the past. Many today deplore the thinning out of perfumes and the bias towards juvenile notes thus explaining the popularity of vintage scents for certain groups of consumers.

Ah, a perfume that would be the equivalent of seeing Lauren Bacall puffing on a cigarette from a long black Bakelite cigarette holder in a 1940s-50s movie.... you know what we mean.

It is also Romano Ricci's first creation as a perfumer. He is the owner of the brand and the grandson of the founder of Nina Ricci. Previously he had been developing the two first scents as artistic director in collaboration with perfumer Francis Kurkdjian.

Citizen Queen will be available from May 2008 at Colette, Printemps, Franck et fils,
Bon marché, Evody in France, and at Henri Bendel, Fred Segal, Corso Como, Selfridges,
Ekseption, Harvey Nichols, Saks fifth avenue elsewhere.

A 100 ml flacon is priced at 110 € and a 50 ml one at 80 €.
