Bobbi Brown Almost Bare (2008): For People who Love Smells but not Perfumes {New Fragrance}

It is by now well known that makeup artist Bobbi Brown does not like perfume per se but that on the other hand she does enjoy smells which often translates into simple fragrances unencumbered with themselves (see here for a great quote of hers on this topic). Willy nilly she is part of a current of contemporary aesthetics in perfumery which loves casual, familiar smells and is particularly thriving in the US.

Her latest offering is Almost Bare, perfectly named to describe this type of sensitivity.....

Almost bare is a makeup concept but it can also be applied to fragrance-wearing. Some people love baby and kids perfumes for this reason. It can also be a convenient way to perfume oneself in the workplace.

So how bare is Almost Bare? We'll have to sniff it, but here is a preview via a description of the notes:

"A sexy, new fragrance from Bobbi Brown—Almost Bare. This fresh floral fragrance features a delicate balance of inspiring Italian Bergamot blended with Violet Leaves to relax and soothe the senses. The scent is enhanced by a note of Soft Muguet and gentle Jasmine Petals, with a Soft Cedar and Warm Amber background."

We think it's also nice to see someone stick to their principles and demonstrate integrity in their vision. It is one indication the Bobbi Brown scents are not purely commercial ventures.

The 50 ml Eau de Parfum is priced at $60 and available on the Bobbi Brown website.
