Jean Paul Gaultier is going to launch a new feminine fragrance in September called Ma Dame.

If the name sounds medievalish and seems to hint at courtly love complete with luth-stroking troubadours, hip model Agyness Deyn, posing with Jean Paul Gaultier, makes sure the image of the perfume remains edgy and oriented toward youth culture. Deyn also recently lended her appearance to the ad for Burberry Beat.....

Ma Dame is labeled as a floral-fresh and considered a departure from the rest of the portfolio which is richer, with a number of floral-orientals. It was created by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian.

The perfume has notes of "rose, grenadine, musk and cedar. It comes in a block-like, pink-tinted glass bottle featuring a sculpted bust—the Gaultier trademark— and a black necklace." Lisa Tant from Flare who attended the launch party writes that it is "fizzy" and adds "...think of how a bottle of cherry pop might smell when you twist the cap off...."

The fragrance will first debut exclusively on August 16 in Paris, London, and Hong Kong before becoming more widely distributed in September. The brand hopes to acquire new customers in the US, Asian, and South American markets.

"The Ma Dame line comprises three EdTs (30ml limited edition priced €38, 50ml at €62 and 100ml at €86), as well as a bath line."
