Estée Lauder will launch a new, limited-edition fragrance from January 2011 called Pure Color Wild Elixir, shortened to Wild Elixir. The composition is inspired by the idea of exploring a dazzling, wild spectrum of floral scents and colors showcased in the heart of the perfume. We get "A feeling of pure energy radiating from luminous Genet Flower,...

...invigorating Mandarin and smooth woods are blended in the new, limited edition Estée Lauder Wild Elixir fragrance.  An expressive,   sophisticated floral texture evolves into a drydown of soft woods and lingers sensuously on the skin for an utterly dramatic appeal."

The perfume was co-created by Karyn Khoury, Senior Vice President, Corporate Fragrance Development Worldwide, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. in conjunction with Harry Fremont, Master Perfumer, Firmenich.

The flacon is an in-house creation by Estée Lauder.

The Elixir opens on notes of Mandarin, Marigold, Purple Freesia and Violet Leaves described as being lush, energetic, multi-sensorial and dazzling. The heart features Wild Gardenia, Pink Muguet, Blue Jasmine and Dewy Waterlily forming "a multi-faceted, airy bouquet around a signature of Genet Flower, an incandescent mimosa-honey scented flower." Base notes offer a woody tonality with Orris, Amberwood, Musk and Sandalwood for an effect of "smooth, sultry sensuality."

For some reason, it reminds me of the feel of the primeval, slightly futuristic conservation project by Estée Lauder which led to the creation of Beyond Paradise, an incredible composition that makes you feel as if you were breathing in the vegetation under a high canopy of trees in the Amazonian forest, although you've never been there (yet.) Checking back in time, I see that the brand called the limited-edition flanker Beyond Paradise Blue in 2007, "a prismatic floral." I think that they are going back to this idea but are also tying in the woody theme which has become defining for them since Sensuous.

The suggested retail price for Wild Elixir is $55 for 1.7 fl oz / 50 ml.
