Google have created an app to help locate victims of the earthquake in Japan called "Google Person Finder." You can either look for a missing person or upload information about someone you found...

The app is currently keeping track of 114 000 records:

Google Japan Person Finder

Update: The New York Times has set up an interactive feature showing before and after satelite pictures of the devastations caused by the earthquake and tsunami (you need to put your curser on the images to roll out the full before and after images.) In some cases, entire towns have disappeared under water. Scientists say they are most worried about the lowering of the floor of Japan in the midst of reports that parts of the Japanese coast has shifted up to 8 feet and that the earth axis moved 4 inches. Nuclear accidents are a real threat.
