Iconic ballet brand Repetto Est. 1947 by Rose Repetto the mother of dancer and choreographer Roland Petit who had requested it of her, will launch their first fragrance in 2013, in collaboration with Inter Parfums, the label announced on December 7, 2011 .
Jean-March Gaucher, Chairman-CEO of Interparfums commented, after the fact,
"Two French companies, Repetto, an iconic global brand in the universe of dance and Interparfums, a highly talented creator of fragrances under license, possess rare and technical know-how. This collaboration provides an occasion for both to write a new page in their respective histories. What could be more natural?"...
Philippe Benacin, the Chairman-CEO of Interparfums further commented that,
"Repetto is an exceptional brand that has acquired unique know-how in the field of dance. We believe that this universe offers real opportunities for creating a range of poetic, glamorous, and ultra-feminine fragrance lines."
Since its beginnings, the ballet brand has become more of a fashion label, with adapted ballet-inspired goods fit for urban fashionistas who appreciate, in particular, its many variations on the ballerina shoe.
Perfumer Olivia Giacobetti once confessed that she is a faithful adept of Repettto shoes. Does it make her a good candidate for creating a Repetto perfume? In principle, yes, as familiarity with a brand universe is a plus. But it could just as well be created by a man dreaming of women in ballerina shoes and tutus.
There will be a span of 13 years to discover the many incarnations of a Repetto scent as the worldwide license agreement covers that period starting on January 1, 2012. Asia, and in particular, reportedly, Korea and Japan are the desirable targets for the house "...where its mix of cross-generational appeal and French chic has met with unprecedented enthusiasm."
