Teenage pop star and heartthrob Justin Bieber has come up with his second perfume dedicated to making believe hordes of hysterically enamored fans that Someday all of his female following will somehow be able to identify as his Girlfriend, at some level, like in their imagination and when they look at the bottle and smell his perfume. "18 000 other girls here, but who'll be looking at me?" sings Michaela Wallace, "pretty soon he'll be kissing me in my dreams" picking up on the age-old pinings of rock stars' concerts' basic membership in her song Justin Bieber's Girlfriend, the mirror song to Justin Bieber Boyfriend and the winner of a Bieber contest. That bottle is looking at you...
Watching the clip of Bieber executing Boyfriend you ask yourself how long he will last with this line of inspiration as it feels paradoxically like it might make him look senile before his times. One fears that by 30 he might look like an ageing Elvis crooning away with his gaze more and more hardened by one-track-minded marketing.
"Girlfriend, girlfriend, you could be my girlfriend
You could be my girlfriend until the epic world ends
Make you dance do a spin and a twirl and
Voice goin crazy on this hook like a whirl wind
Girlfriend the perfume is about a world of feel-good fantasy and time spent with your idol,
"An enticing fragrance made to get your heart racing as you experience that feeling of getting personal with Justin. One spray and you'll finally experience the exhilaration of holding on and never letting go. Every touch, every breath, all captured in a flirty new scent. Dare to get closer."
The Eau de Parfum has notes of sparkling pear, crisp mandarin, rich blackberry, mara strawberry, pink freesia, star jasmine, apricot nectar, orange blossom, vanilla orchid, white amber and luminous musk.
Bieber said that it is a more mature, sophisticated version of Someday. Apparently his women's perfumes which he plans to continue on releasing as he's not into doing masculine scents at the moment, will be ageing with him and his female fan base. Life is a long journey and the way of the flanker is wide open before him for the forseeable future.
Price: $49 for 1.7 fl oz. Available at department stores including Macy’s, Sephora, Dillard’s, Belk, Nordstrom and Boscov’s.
