Scent Bar at Target: Bringing Cali Niche to the Mainstream {Fragrance News} {Beauty Notes - Bath & Body}

Scent_Bar_Target_Blush.jpgChoosy, picky niche perfume wearers will be able to recognize two names at Target with the launch of a Scent Bar line of bath products, provided they even venture in those back-alleys of their fragrance shopping universe. Named after the Los Angeles perfumery which has been thriving on selectivity and careful editing, co-founders Adam Eastwood and Franco Wright {check our Q & A} apparently wanted to do mainstream once in their lives at least -- you can just sense the thrill of measuring up to the economy of scale,

"Our focus was on creating truly wearable scents wrapped in great body products she could use every day – all at a great price.  For years we’ve helped women discover fragrances they fall in love with, and we’re thrilled to bring that boutique experience to Target’s specialty bath department"...

The 4 different fragrances are said to have been custom-designed and layering is encouraged.

"Each range of sheer-scented products is designed for everyday layering, so you can customize the intensity of your favorite scent, while leaving your skin beautifully quenched and luxuriously fragranced."

Impressions:

While the scent descriptions sound sage enough, there is no telling whether they will have that little nichey, streamlined touch which one would logically expect to encounter in them. If they smell exactly like the Bath and Body Works offerings - no offense meant, there are some great BBW ones - then, you will have wondered why they needed to pull in two taste-makers from the niche perfume world.

Products start at $8.99
