Robert Piguet Petit Fracas (2012) {New Perfume}

 Robert Piguet parfums are taking ever more liberties with their original script, which was to revive the eponymous house and its catalogue of historical fragrances, Bandit and Fracas in particular, whose names are particularly hallowed in perfume world. Petit Fracas is the whimsical latecomer, with a name recalling "Petit Guerlain", a discontinued scent for children, it is not meant for toddlers and youngin's primarily. The brand explained that the perfume is for everyone; it is a more fun incarnation of what a Piguet perfume can be, not a Fracas for beginners....

 If youth was kept in mind when designing the new perfume created by nose Aurélien Guichard, it is the spirit which counts most rather than the biological age of its prospective wearers.

The only common things Grand Fracas seems to have with Petit Fracas are hinted at with words like "audacity", "vintage edge" and the indication that there is tuberose.

"Play the game of love with Petit Fracas de Robert Piguet. The scent has an audacious air, inspired by our iconic Fracas. Petit is fresh, youthful and feminine, with a playful innocence. Flirtatious and charming,..."

"Elegant and enchanting, but not too serious, Petit Fracas is a chic floral bouquet, perfect for flirty fashionistas or fashionistas at heart."

 The perfume opens on top notes of mandarin, bergamot and pear followed by jasmine, tuberose and gardenia and finally trailing off with musk, sandalwood and cocoa.

If the fragrance is officially not taking itself too seriously, it nevertheless takes itself seriously enough to come in extrait form, on top of the eau de parfum version. It is also now part of the Classic Collection.
