Jessica Alba just published a book of advice on beauty and life entitled The Honest Life: Living Naturally and True to You. As a new mom, she needed to reconfigure her life and priorities while creating a safe environment for her family. In it, she has a passage about perfume. She writes,
"I generally skip perfume - between body wash, lotions, and shampoos, perfume isn't really necessary, and it's one less product to layer on and fuss with. But sometimes I do like to have a special scent, and I'll create my own by adding a couple drops of essential oils...
- gardenia and jasmine are my favorites - to a body oil. [Play around but be careful about getting into the patchouli and such, unless that's your move - the goal is to still smell like yourself.) For special nights out, I can't get enough of the Honoré des Prés fragrance line by Olivia Giacobetti: it's completely phtalate - and other sketchy fragrance ingredients - free and smells ah-mazing. Her Vamp à NY is my favorite scent."
If you wish to read the book here's some more information about it,
"In 2012, with serial entrepreneur Brian Lee and environmental advocate Christopher Gavigan, she launched The Honest Company, a brand where parents can find reliable information and products that are safe, stylish, and affordable. The Honest Life shares the insights and strategies she gathered along the way.
The Honest Life recounts Alba’s personal journey of discovery and reveals her tips for making healthy living fun, real, and stylish, while offering a candid look inside her home and daily life. She shares strategies for maintaining a clean diet (with favorite family-friendly recipes) and embraces nontoxic choices at home and provides eco-friendly decor tips to fit any budget. Alba also discusses cultivating a daily eco beauty routine, finding one’s personal style without resorting to yoga pants, and engaging in fun, hands-on activities with kids. Her solutions are easy, chic, and down-to-earth: they’re honest. And discovering everyday ways to live naturally and authentically—true to you—could be honestly life-changing."
On the same page where she talks about perfume, there are tips on mani-pedis for kids! Everything and more that you wanted to know about how to have fun with beauty in a safe and caring way for your family and mother Earth.
