British private equity group Charterhouse are in the process of selling Nocibé, the 3rd largest perfume and cosmetics retail chain in France behind Sephora and Marionnaud. Douglas have expressed their interest, which would push up Nocibé to second place in France, just behind Sephora...

At the same time, another significant bid is being considered from French private equity firm LBO France in an alliance with Chinese conglomerate Fosun, who are currently studying the commercial opportunities for China while being interested in another alliance bid on Club Méditerranée together with AXA Private Equity.

The deadline for the deal to be finalized has been pushed back to the end of June 2013. Les Echos report that German Douglas Holding is considered to be the most motivated of the two contenders while the alliance bid has heightened the interest in the operation.
