A "cardinalice" perfume

Perfumer Nicolas de Barry, who has founded his own house or Maison de Haute Parfumerie, after having created a series of noted historical fragrances for Maître Parfumeur et Gantier, has released a new perfume in 2014 baptized L'Eau du Cardinal...

The composition is co-signed by noses Nicolas de Barry et Eddy Blanchet. Their aim was to create a non-ostentatious eau de Cologne with even more delicate and fresh accents than usual, while it being offered in the richer eau de parfum concentration.

They thought of great French historical figures like the Cardinal de Richelieu who was in the habit of having his abode perfumed before he would wake up and Cardinal de Bernis who was a perfume connoisseur and known to share his passion with the king.

Fragrance notes are: hesperidic notes, bergamot, neroli, sandalwood and incense, the latter note being no doubt an interpretation of the religious mission of the "great cardinals of France".

The brand founder's work include George Sand and La Reine Margot.
