As a follow-up to the news this morning that Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle is on its way of becoming a part of the Estée Lauder Companies, we asked a source: what is the plan for the creative team; are there going to be any changes?...

It was confirmed to us that Frédéric Malle will remain the head of creation. The source added that Malle will retain the same power of decision as in the past and that nothing is meant to change on that level.

It was commented further that we can already rest fully assured, regarding the continuity of Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, of its creator and of his projects that this new alliance will only serve to strengthen, given the ties of mutual respect maintained over a long period of time.

An official press release is in the works.

It sounds like what is going to change is all the marketing effort they need to put into promoting and developing the brand.

We can anticipate that Frédéric Malle will walk out if he has to compromise absurdly according to the standards he has set himself.

If all goes well - and fragrance connoisseurs will appreciate this thought - Malle might have even more exclusive time devoted to perfumery creation. If things take a more commercial turn, he will be pressured to heighten output too much, become trendier and go more systematically in the direction of high luxury which is what The Night fragrance is telling us he's considered doing.
