Burberry Unveil the Ad Campaign of My Burberry Black Featuring a New Facet of Lily James & their Perfume

British fashion house Burberry, best known for their signature beige trenchcoats, have invited actress Lily James to be their fashion and fragrance muse in the advertising campaign for the new My Burberry Black, shot by photographer Mario Testino...

Playing against type, James who has risen to fame thanks to her romantic role in the popular TV series Downton Abbey, in which she interprets the ingenue Lady Rose MacClare, is shown wearing minimal black lingerie while taking a sultry pose in a black trench coat looking like a négligé which has slipped off her shoulders.

Of course, this is a visual allusion to the erotic practice of wearing nothing underneath a fur coat, or a trench coat for that matter. The sensible outdoorsy wear is turned upside down becoming an accessory of desire.

My Burberry Black, as a flanker to My Burberry, is said to « reflect the sensual aspects of a Burberry trench coat worn on the naked skin».

The rose in the perfume is now candied and sweeter.

"Introducing My Burberry Black - an intense and sensual interpretation of the iconic fragrance My Burberry. Created by Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bailey in collaboration with renowned perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, the fragrance is inspired by the black Burberry Heritage Trench Coat."

The ad campaign includes a numerical interactive campaign in selected stores. You could also have your flacon engraved with up to three initials online.
