Vive Maria Mis(s) Behave & Almost Innocent: Maria Full of Grace & Dangerously Saintly Aromas (2008) {New Fragrances - New Line}
German lingerie brand Vive Maria has inaugurated a new line of perfumes comprising a debut duo called Mis(s) Behave and Almost Innocent. Vive Maria touts itself as offering "forbidden lingerie", therefore the perfumes could not but be "forbidden fragrance[s]". They ask you to "sin courageously", because as we all know it is not always easy to let go of your inhibitions when you were brought up within organized religion. The packaging references Catholic symbolism with a pious image of the Virgin Mary and even more than that, a marial crown bearing 15 points to symbolize the day of the Assumption of the Virgin on August 15th.
The message of the brand seems very much in tune with other self-declared free-thinking fragrance labels such as Etat Libre d'Orange and Juliette Has a Gun, especially for the latter in the feel of the packaging. It is all about breaking some cultural and in particular, sexual taboos with a spritz of perfume and, in this case, see-through lingerie blessed by the aura of the Virgin Mary.....
Mis(s) Behave
It is described as an oriental fragrance with top notes of mandarin, Syrian juniper berries, sage blossoms, nutmeg, Indian davana oil and blackcurrant leading to a heart of Egyptian peach blossom, paradise apple, rose oil, plum and fig. The base lingers with notes of cinnamon leaves, tonka bean, frankincense, styrax and myrrh.
Almost Innocent
The scent is a creamy and powdery floral. It opens on top notes of fresh lychee, lime aroma, pink pepper and mandarin nectar. The heart is composed of Madonna lily, magnolia flowers, Syrian jasmine and white peach. The base has Lebanese cedar, ambergris oils and vanilla.
The vanilla is described as "aphrodisiac" and judging from some recent perfumes with a particularly beautiful note of vanilla that seems to have benefited from technology or a great harvest - YSL Opium Poésie de Chine, Fresh Cannabis Rose - it could be good.
