Balmain Vent Vert and Monsieur Balmain in New Guises {Fragrance News}

vent_vert_nouveau_flacon_OK.jpgThe classic Vent Vert by Balmain created by perfumer Gemaine Cellier in 1947 and re-created by perfumer Calice Becker in 1990, as well as the house's men's classic, Monsieur Balmain have been poured into new flacons to harmonize with other more recent Balmain fragrances packaging....

Monsieur_Balmain_nouveau_flacon.jpgVent Vert is now in a similar bottle as that of Ambre Gris and Monsieur Balmain is in a bottle like that of Carbone.

The formulae remain the same.

Last year, in July 2011, a 12-year worldwide license agreement commencing on January 1, 2012 was signed with Inter Parfums - who develop Burberry, Boucheron Van Cleef & Arpels, Lanvin, and Jimmy Choo fragrances, among others - to create, produce and distribute perfumes under the Balmain brand.

A new line of original Balmain perfume creations is expected to launch at the end of 2012.

  1. Dear Chantal-Helene,

Do you have any idea if this new "Vent Vert" in updated bottle is indeed the Calice Becker reformulation? And not the Nathalie Feisthauer reformulation that took place AFTER the Calice Becker one?

I was hoping that with the updated beautiful bottles that they would try to bring the perfume back "up to spec" as well, as many people bemoan the loss of the vintage original (Luca Turin & Tania Sanchez say that the Calice Becker version was still loveable, but that the Nathalie Feisthauer version ruined the perfume...).

Any information you have would be MUCH appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Sands

    • Dear Sands,

I would have to put that question to someone. To my nose, there was a passage in time where the perfume smelled really bad. Then, it seems to have been properly remastered. I'm not sure whose formulation I smelled, but I can inquire.

      Best,
      Chantal-Hélène

  2. Dear Chantal-Hélène,

Thank you so much for your response. If it is not too much trouble, I would really like to know which formulation you smelled. It would help me in a project I am working on. Perhaps another perfumer has worked on this newest version? Hopefully it's not secret...

I must say I am quite in love with the newest version with the silver globed cap, having recently come to own it.

    Warmly,

    Thank you in advance,

    Sands

When I have a chance, I'll take a sniff of the version currently sold. I'll see if I can gather some info. I'm a bit busy these days so it might take a little while.

      Best,

        • Hello Sands, I have to say that, no, not yet. Have been so busy that some things have simply fallen through the cracks. Will try to remedy that. Chant
